Fabrication of air separation unit is undertaken with special care as it is the most important part of an oxygen plant. It accounts for 60% of the cost of the plant machinery so needs to be built with care and high quality components.
O2 plants take ambient air from the atmosphere which is then compressed in the air separation unit. Then it is purified in the purification system from impurities such as hydrocarbons and moisture. The process air is then liquefied through a series of heat exchangers. Next, the air is separated into constituent parts, oxygen and nitrogen in the high pressure distillation column. Afterwards the desired gas is collected and distilled for meeting commercial properties.
